"LauraLynn"
Singer 301A
1951

Although I mostly collect and use Featherweights, I do also appreciate their big sister, the Singer 301.  It's also a lovely portable and the slant needle design is handy for people who do a lot of quilting.  The larger motor and ability to see more of your stitching work makes the 301 perfect for serious quilters.  And they are stunning!  I think they are as lovely as the Featherweight and the extreme Art Deco design is attractive and very collectable.  This Singer 301A is amazing to use and there isn't a new machine anywhere that can hold a candle to the quality and stability of this great sewing machine.  The black paint of LauraLynn is in beautiful condition over most of the machine.  You will see wear and pin scratches on the sewing bed and a bit of fading to the front decals.  All in all, LauraLynn is above average both in cosmetics and performance.

LauraLynn's prism-style decals are certainly more lovely than the average 301A, showing normal wear and fading mostly in the front.  The center of her bed around the center decal shows the most wear in the paint in the way of scratches and fading.  Certainly not extreme, but I want to point it out.

The Ruffler is a wonderful attachment that works like magic.  You can make small perfectly spaced pleats or even ruffle a piece of fabric and attach it to your project all in one operation.
The built in handle is a wonderful design and makes it so easy to move LauraLynn around.  It folds down flat for easy storage.
With very little wear on the top logo, it's apparent that this Singer sewing machine hasn't been toted around very much at all.
LauraLynn features the stamped throat plate, a much desired feature that aids in nice, even seam allowances and eliminates the need for that piece of tape!

The inner workings of this sewing machine are pristine and look like new.  LauraLynn has been very well cared for by her previous owner.
Most of LauraLynn's gold trim is still as bright and shiny as the day she left the factory.  She has minor wear on her front decals, and her famous oval Singer badge is gorgeous.
The 301A has a very strong sewing light with a glass magnifying cover.  It throws a nice bright light in the perfect spot.
LauraLynn's side view makes it very apparent why they call the 301A a Slant Needle or Slant Head sewing machine.  The Art Deco influence is also quite evident.  What a beautiful, well-thought-out design!
The original Bobbin Case has been serviced and the tension has been adjusted.  She will be all ready to unpack and sew when she arrives at her new seamstress's house!
Singer located the motor on the 301 inside the bed, making for a nice quiet sewing experience.
This wonderful Singer can do a myriad of gorgeous stitches including embroidery, which is explained in detail in the manual.
The case show a little bit of wear and has a few bumps, but remains structurally sound and will do a fine job protecting LauraLynn when she's off-duty.
LauraLynn was put through her paces and has been fully cleaned, tuned and serviced.  All of the following photos are sample stitches that were actually performed on LauraLynn and the samples will be included.  She can handle anything from lightweight lycra to layers of leather and upholstery fabrics.
The Seam Gauge is included and will ensure perfect seams with no effort.

The Ruffler attachment is amazing.  It can ruffle a strip of fabric or lace and attach it to your project all in one operation.  Change the dial and you can create evenly spaced pleats.

No more measuring and ironing hems before you sew.  Dial up the size on your Adjustable hemmer and feed your fabric through.

The Gatherer is as easy to use as a standard pressure foot!  All you need to do it turn your upper tension and feed the fabric like normal.  Viola!  No more tugging on thread for gathers.

The Multi-Slotted Binder is especially popular with quilters and will give your project a professional looking finish.

The Foot Hemmer does one thing - it sews those tiny rolled hems found on handkerchiefs and napkins.  Think of the custom linens you can create for your next dinner party!

The Buttonholer is a newer version of the older Singer Buttonholers and works in the same way.  Various cams are included so that you'll have just the size you need.

This is LauraLynn stitching through FOUR layers of leathers without a care in the world.  Amazing.
