" Natalie "
Gorgeous Barely Celery
221K Featherweight
FA207195
Circa 1968 - 1971
I've only owned a handful of white Featherweights in all my years of collecting and I believe this may be the best one I ever owned. I can count on one hand the minute little chips or pin marks and most of them you need to look really closely to find! So many of these are quite chippy since they didn't receive the clear coat finish that their black sisters did. So, to find one in this gorgeous condition is quite rare.
You can tell by the lack of wear on the Tensioner that this Featherweight has seen very little service. She has almost all of her life left to give to one lucky seamstress to enjoy for years and years to come.

Natalie has the stamped throat plate that Singer put on their sewing machines in later years. It's so handy to have your seam allowances permanently stamped in place. No more masking tape!
The very few and light pin marks on the bed will not show up on the photos. They are simply too light. You expect to find some evidence of age in a vintage machine that's over 40 years old, but Natalie's cosmetics are just remarkable with very little blemishes.
Her Tensioner has been adjusted for the perfect upper thread tension. Again, note how new the dial and chrome plates look.
The Red "S" decal is still firmly attached and shows no fading or wear. The graphics on the Stitch Regulator Dial are also bright and like-new.
Even the very top of the sewing head has no wear or chips that I could find. This spot can get nicked from the foot pedal or attachments when stored in the case.
This Barely Celery color was first mentioned and named that in the now-famous book The Perfect Portable by Nancy Srebro-Johnson. I placed a pure white piece of lace on the bed so you can see the pale celery shade of paint Natalie sports.
I found one small nick in the Handwheel at the very edge of the rim.
The decal stating Natalie was made in Great Britain is even in excellent condition! As you can see, her wires are in great shape as well.
Most times you will find scruffs or light scratches in the Chrome Center Hub of the Handwheel. Note how beautiful this one is!
Her motor is blazing fast! Some light scuffing shows at the two high spots on the motor. This is from the Foot Controller resting on it in the case. It has gone into the paint, so unless you want to touch it up will have to remain as it is. Nothing major, of course. Every Featherweight should be so lucky to have such few nicks.
This is the light reflecting in the finish from the back of the Featherweight, which shows you how pretty Natalie is.
The Singer decals on the back of the Featherweight are also in great shape.
On the far left hand corner of the extension bed you'll find some light scuffing at the lower rim. This could be from the factory and simply paint that dripped, but I wanted to point it out.
WOW! Even the Bobbin Case and housing looks like it just came from the factory.
I found 3 very tiny nicks about the size of pin points towards the back of the bed. They are so small it's easy to miss them unless you study the paint. Underneath the light and behind the tensioner is the only real chip I was able to find. I had to turn the Featherweight upside down to find it.
The drip pan is intact and in excellent condition with no chips or cracks in the board.
Good heavens! Did you ever see such a clean interior of any Featherweight? Typically, oil will stain the metal and while it doesn't hurt a thing, it can't be removed. Natalie hasn't even done enough work to get her gears dirty! She was completely serviced and cleaned and polished. She's all ready to unpack and go to work sewing beautifully for you

I love the Oil Can! It's in very good condition and has a price tag of 75 cents. Oh, for the good old days. The Owner's Manual is in good shape with a few dog ears. The box has some dents and stains.
You will receive copies of the Original Service Manual, Adjuster's Manual and my own Tips and Hints.
Natalie has her original Singer Clamshell Foot controller. It has a few scuffs at the right hand side of the tread. Of course, this just keeps it from being absolutely perfect and does not affect the way it operates the Featherweight. It was completely tested.
Natalie has a VERY RARE case. This is the only green and ivory case I've ever owned with a lock on the latch. And yes, the key is here as well. The case cover had discoloring and more scuffs than I was happy with since Natalie is in such wonderful condition, so I restored the color back on the outside. The outside covering has a fresh coat of color to make it pretty again. The handle is a replacement handle and not the original. All in all, you have to agree the case did its job protecting its valuable cargo!
The stitching on the lid is all still nice and tight and intact.
The hinges on the lid are strong and still hold the lid perfectly upright. The entire case is very sturdy and will continue to do the job of protecting Natalie when she isn't at work.
Look at the beautiful stitch Natalie makes!
