"Peggy"
Singer Featherweight 221
December 12, 1952

This great lady is one of those who has pretty great paint but her decals are faded.  Her previous seamstress may have been fond of perfume and wore it daily like I do!  But, it will react and fade the decals on a Featherweight.  So, don't quit wearing perfume.  Heavens no!  Simply put it somewhere else ;-)  That being said, I would give Peggy a high 7 rating on the beauty scale and she is truly a lovely Featherweight that will make her next seamstress so proud!

Her original Singer motor is super strong and ready to go to work for her next owner.
Selina's upper tensioner is in excellent condition and has been fine-tuned for a perfect stitch.  The graphics are rich and bright.  Her Singer logo on the light has a few bumps, but nothing serious.

I tried to include photos that show Peggy's beauty as well as her beauty marks.  Most of these are going to be much more noticeable in bright studio lights than they will appear in normal household lighting.  But, it's important that I put a fair and full description up so you can make your decision and selection knowing all this.  You can see by this next photo that Peggy is just wonderful.  She did a beautiful job for her old seamstress and will do a wonderful job for her next one!
The Ruffler is so great if you make pillows or children's clothing.  It can ruffle and attach all in one operation.  It also makes little evenly spaced pleats.
The Foot Hemmer is great for making custom napkins and linens.  It gives you that teeny turned hem you see on napkins and handkerchiefs and works like magic.
No more tugging on threads to get a nice gather.  Now, just pop the Gatherer onto Peggy and feed the fabric through.  She'll do the work for you.

Look closely where your wrist rests and you'll see that some of Peggy's decals are rubbed to silver.  This is mostly in the front and the rest are quite nice.
Peggy has her original Bobbin Case and the tension has been adjusted to match the upper tension for a nice even stitch.
The pedal cord has a newer, updated rubber cord that her previous owner had done.
Included with Peggy are the following:

  Original  Accessory Box
Original Owner's Manual (some oil spots, but all legible)
  Multiple Slotted Binder
  Gatherer
  Ruffler
  Foot Hemmer
  Edge Stitcher
  Adjustable Hemmer
  Zipper Foot
  4 Bobbins
  Original Bakelite Foot Pedal
  Original Carrying Case
  Case Key
Copy of the Singer Service Manual
Copy of the Singer Adjuster's Manual
  My own Hints and Tips
Help and advice whenever you need it.
The Multi-Slotted Binder is perfect for quilters and can handle various sizes of binding easily.  While all the attachments have a bit of a learning curve, they really aren't as difficult as most think and are so much fun!
I like the idea of simply feeding my project through the Adjustable Hemmer and having a perfect hem every time at whatever width I like.  No more measuring and ironing!  Just dial up the size from small to several inches and there you go.

You can see there are a few marks in Peggy's paint, but she remains shiny and pretty overall.  This is the back showing the decals on the other side.  Very nice!
The best feature about Peggy is her ability to make a lovely stitch!   She can sew leather, lycra, thick fur, denim, or most anything else you would like!  She's been fully tuned, cleaned and tested.  All the following sewing samples were performed on Peggy and the samples will be sent along to her new seamstress.
She's all nice and clean with new oil and grease, fully tuned and adjusted and ready for you to unpack and start your first project.
